Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing Addresses Del Monte Workers’ Housing Crisis
In response to Del Monte’s announcement that it will close it’s 100-year-old pineapple operation on Oahu, Senator Ron Menor, Chair, Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, introduced two bills (SB 2773 & SB 2774), to address the future housing needs of Del Monte Workers. The legislation would help displaced workers secure housing and also preserve important agriculture lands. Update! SB 2773 was passed with amendments on January 16th.
