So What Do You Do When the Legislature’s Not in Session?
By Hawaii State Senator Will Espero
We work. The Legislative Session, from the third Wednesday in January through the first week in May, is when we consider ideas for laws. From adjournment – our last day in Session – to the next
Session, we continue to listen to ideas from businesses, individuals, and community groups for making new laws or improving existing laws, or what needs to be done in Hawaii. We hear information on a wide range of issues affecting our community, so we have a better understanding when considering bills during Session. We discuss progress and needs with state departments. We visit our constituencies to keep up to date and address their concerns. And sometimes events present themselves for opportunities to expand Hawaii’s potential.
