Senate Doing Its Part
With the high cost of energy affecting the cost of tomatoes to airline tickets, the Senate offices are doing its part to conserve electricity:
Doors closed: A number of legislators prefer leaving their doors open, but have elected to close it in order to keep cooler air in.
Lights out: Only necessary fluorescent panels are kept on during working hours.
Reduce Phantom Loads: According to Hawaiian Electric Company’s Consumer Lines, 75 percent of electricity used to power home electronics is consumed while it is on standby mode such as unused computers or power strips.
