Hawai‘i State Senate President Ron Kouchi (D-Kauai) issued the following statement today after Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami instituted an island-wide curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily until further notice to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
“I understand why Mayor Kawakami took this unprecedented step. His primary concern is the health and safety of all Kauai residents, and protecting our kūpuna. I commend Mayor Kawakami for taking action to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect our community.”
